SJEC Mission Honduras
Hola! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the SJEC Mission Honduras Travel Team! Please pray for us every day as we begin to make our preparations for this journey that will not only impact the lives of the impoverished people of the Agalta Valley, but of our own.
Marcia Allison - Team Leader
Fr. Roy Allison - Spiritual Leader
Dennis Long - Medical Leader
Dates of the mission trip is June 9th - 16, 2018
St. James Episcopal Church is partnering with Honduras Outreach International in a mission of work projects, vacation bible school, pastoral care and a medical clinic. We take all of you with us in our hearts and will share with the villagers. I would like to bring photos of anyone that is assisting in the preparations to share with our new brothers and sisters of Honduras. Please give those to our Home Team Spiritual Director, Judy Mathis.
How can you help? We first ask for you to add our names to your daily prayer list. Consider sponsoring one of the travelers; malaria prevention medication, work boots, gloves, mosquito nets and scrubs for work clothing in addition to travel expenses can become very costly and your financial support is appreciated. Speak to one of them privately how you can assist. Or donate to the needs of the Honduras Community. The month of April will be designated a medical supply donations month - a list will be forthcoming. May will be designated as vacation bible school supply month. Look for the bins in the Parish Hall to drop off your donations.
Our missionaries will be lodging at El Rancho Paraiso in the Olancho district of Honduras in what is known as the Agalta Valley. This lodge is primitive and is maintained solely by donations and support of its occupants and local community. Rancho el Paraiso has an on-going need for certain supplies. Listed below are items, which mission teams can easily bring that would be useful to our operations at the Ranch:
¥ Twin-bed sheet sets
¥ pillow cases
¥ Bath-sized towels
¥ Fleece blankets
¥ School supplies for the HOI schools
We are so proud of our parish and we want to make sure that you have the information you need so that you can fully participate in our worship and activities. We will endeavor to keep information as current as possible, and encourage you to join us in our mission "to know Christ and to make Him known." Please let us know what we can do to better serve you and witness to the love of God.
